Career Choices

In addition to computer design, there are several other designing career alternatives, which the people with disabilities can choose. Those with creative talents can opt for fashion designing, textile designing and interior designing.

Now days even gems and jewelery designing is an upcoming option. These fields require less mobility.

Photography too can be an option but those with limited mobility can find it difficult. Those with speech disorders or hearing impairment can very easily choose this a career option. Photography requires a sharp eye, being able to handle camera equipment and having an intuitive sense about subject matter are required.

Designing career are not much physically demanding. What all is needed is creative talent and great amount of work ethics. There is a great scope of self employment in this field.

One with creative abilities can also use personal experience and needs of those with disabilities to create better designs suitable for their purpose. For instance actress Dawn Wells of "Gilligan's Island" fame, after caring for a disabled relative, came up with a line of clothing using Velcro for easy fastening.

Online degrees, distance education facilities and career training opportunities are abound. One can do certificate courses; can get diplomas as well as degrees in the area of study.
