Animation is an art of making an action by drawing inanimate objects or characters, which are made suitable for filming. Cartoon films are made in this way. India’s animation industry is growing leaps and bounds. There many animation studios all over the country. Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram have famous animation companies like Films Division, Maya Entertainment, Silverton Studio, UTV Toons, Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), 2NZ Studios, Prasad Studios, Acropetal, jadooWorks, Color Chips, Toonz Animation, Heart Animation, etc.

The work area in animation includes creating an idea, developing it into a story script and giving technical assistance to it.

This field of work can be one of the career options for those who have physical challenges. It can be one of the most suitable professions for people with hearing impairment since it does not require much of interaction with many people. Even for wheelchair users it can be a great option. Working as an animator does not involve any physical labor.

To enter this area all that one needs is creative talents and those with physical challenges are often blessed with such talents. You have to develop abilities to visualize, imagine, understand a concept and then implement it. Knowledge of computers is also one of prerequisites to enter this area of work.

There are many certificate, diploma and degree courses which can make you formally qualified to work in this field. You would need to learn web authoring, digital illustrations, image editing, page layout creation, multimedia authoring, web publishing, conventional animation, contemporary animation, animation for Web, video editing and composing.
